About — the duo

Two heads, one drum bus.

Hey — we're Liam and Philip. We started Loop in a bedroom with one interface and too many ideas. Five years later it's a real room, but the rule hasn't changed: if it doesn't make us nod on the first loop, it doesn't leave the building.

I can't stop thinking up new beats, and melodies are what I'm best at. Most of the time I hear where a song's going before it's even there.

A lot of my job is hearing how you should sing for it to land — which note, which register, where to pull back. I get a feel for how it'll turn out early, so we build toward something I can already hear instead of feeling our way there.

I own the basslines. That's where a song gets its weight — the “umph” you feel in your chest more than you hear.

I spend my time getting the bottom end right: the right note in the bass, the right pressure, how it plays against the drums. When that locks in, nothing else has to shout for the track to feel big.

Together we finish what most people leave at 80%.

The handoff is where records usually die — a beat goes to one person, vocals to another, mix to a stranger, and the spark leaks out at every step. We don't do that. From the first voice memo to the master that hits streaming, it's the two of us in one room. That's the whole pitch, and it's the reason it sounds like us.
